This post will take around 71 seconds to read.

#GikII was not your everyday law conference:

(Word cloud created using Tagxedo, click for full size. Names, Twitter grammar and some common words removed. Annoyed about frame.)

The GikII site is nice and simple with the 2012 event page already updated with slides, presentations etc. It’s really not that hard…they even had a Google+ event page.

Shared links include Game of Thrones opening sung by a cat, well worth curating! First impressions of the backchannel are of a more engaged community than at many legaled events.

I’ve been collecting data from a number of legal education conferences in order to compare and contrast usage and perhaps to work out what it all means, but for now here are some low effort analytics for #GikII:

  • TAGS archive (see summary and dashboards sheets; c644 tweets, 102 links, 162 RTs) plus a TAGS Explorer visualisation (77 nodes, 69 edges; how to use, scroll!) and searchable archive (filter by keyword or user)
  • Tweetreach - FWIW the last 50 #GikII tweets reached 16,448 people with 50,914 impressions
  • Epilogger - dashboard with photos, tweets, check-ins, links; they autotweet, handy but a bit out of control (Eventifier does something similar)
  • Tagboard – Twitter, Instagram, Facebook (don’t look!) and App.net in a grid

Arigato gozaimasu and ‘see’ you in Japan!

(This post is part of my Law Teacher 2.0 series on law teachers’ use of social media. Twitter data from legal education events is available on my CPD blog.)
